Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi scored a jaw-dropping long-range banger during his side’s 2–0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League (PL) on Tuesday (local time).

The Nigerian is widely renowned for his role as a holding midfielder but he managed to stun Frank Lampard’s side with a lightning strike at the King Power Stadium early into the game.

The key moment came at the 6th minute of the match, after a smart buildup from James Maddison and Marc Albrighton off a corner.

Albrighton’s low-driven cross first bound Harvey Barnes, who mistimed his shot and the ball bobbled over to an on-rushing Ndidi.

Wilfried, without even taking a first touch, opted to strike the ball from the edge of the Chelsea penalty box and found the back of the net in an emphatic fashion.

The fierce strike left Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy rooted to the spot, as the ball nicked off the post and nestled into the goal.

Later on in the first half, Maddison doubled the lead for the Foxes in the 41st minute. The game since then saw a change in momentum with the visitors showing great desperation to get into the game.

However, Leicester’s defence stood tall till the final whistle to secure their new role as the league leaders.

Meanwhile, Lampard is set to be under a lot of pressure after this defeat with multiple reports suggesting that the former Chelsea skipper might face the axe due to his side’s poor form in the league so far this season.
