WATCH: Shocking Video of Gram Panchayat Seats Being Auctioned in Mandya District

Karnataka: A day after the shocking video emerged from Yedrami village which showed bidding for seats in panchayat polls in Kalaburagi district, another shocking video has emerged from Madya district which shows an auction being carried for gram panchayat seats.

The State Election Commission on November 30 announced a two-phase poll for 5,762 gram panchayats spread across 30 districts in Karnataka.

The Elections are scheduled to be held on December 22 and 27, while the results will be announced on December 30.

According to the State Election Commission, around 2.96 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes and they will elect 92,121 gram panchayat members.

According to the schedule, the last date for filing nomination is December 11 for the first phase and December 17 for the second phase.

The elections are to take place on December 22 and December 27 respectively, while repolls, if necessary, will be held on December 24 and 29. The counting for votes will begin on December 30 from 8 a.m. and results will be declared on the same day.
