Earlier the Maharashtra CM, Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra showed their support to the farmers and urged the central government to repeal all the three ordinances.
The ordinances in question are “The Farming Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020” and “The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020”.
The government has also amended the Essential Commodities Act which deregulated commodities like oilseeds, pulses, onions and potatoes thus allowing increased stockpiling capacities for the traders.
