Trump, Biden step aside: US town elects a dog as mayor
While the world still anxiously awaits for the ballot counting to end for the conclusion of the Presidential Election bout between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden, a small town in the US decided to elect a dog as their Mayor.
Wilbur Beast, who is a French bulldog, has been democratically elected as the brand new Mayor of Rabbit Hash in Kentucky.
As per the reports from Fox News, the “Beast” secured a victory by 13,143 votes in the end and ran clear against his oppositions. This also marks the biggest win for a candidate in the town of Kentucky.
“Mayoral election in Rabbit Hash has been called! Wilbur Beast is the new mayor with an amazing 13,143 votes (highest winning total ever) toward an election total of 22,985!” the Rabbit Hash Historical Society, within whose ambit the town falls, said in their Facebook post on Wednesday (November 5).
What’s more interesting about this election was that Wilbur went head-to-head against fellow K9 competitors in a beagle by the name of Jack Rabbit, and against a golden retriever by the name of Poppy.
Meanwhile, Lady Stone — a 12-year-old border collie — will continue to act as the town’s ambassador for the time being.
