Third Wave of COVID-19 is Ending in Delhi, Says CM Kejriwal

New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal during a live broadcast said that the third wave of COVID-19 in Delhi is now ending and discussed how Delhi has fared in controlling the COVID situation within the capital region.

He said that the capital saw as many as 86,000 cases per day in November, which was the highest spike recorded not only in the country but in the world.

“It appears that the third wave of COVID19 in Delhi is now ending. Around 90,000 daily tests are being conducted in Delhi today. This is the highest number of daily tests in the country,” Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday.

During his media briefing, Delhi CM lauded the doctors and medical staff who have been working tirelessly to conduct tests and also said that Delhi citizens handled the spike in COVID cases very well.

He also added that the cases since the spike has come down to 11033 as of December 19 and the positivity rate has shrunk to only 1.3 percent from 15 percent recorded in August.

According to Kejriwal, the active cases too in the national capital region has come down from 45,000 in November to 12,000 active cases in December whereas the death toll is currently around 37 in NCR.

“We have increased the testing in Delhi, from 20,000 tests, our doctors and hospitals increased it to over 60,000 and now it has increased to 90,000 tests which are conducted in Delhi,” he said.

Currently, Delhi conducts the highest number of tests in the country, Delhi CM said.
