Second Phase of DDC Polls Underway in Jammu & Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir, Dec 1: Polling is underway for the second phase of District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir, amid tight security arrangements.
About 321 candidates are contesting for the second phase of the DDC polls. Out of the 280 constituencies in the union territory, 43 are going to polls in Jammu and Kashmir in the second phase — 25 are in Kashmir while 18 are in the Jammu division.

Elections for the DDCs, which are being held in eight phases, will conclude on December 19 and the counting of votes be held on December 22.
By-polls for 234 vacant seats of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) are also being held simultaneously.
The first phase of DDC polls was held on November 28 in which elections for 43 out of 280 constituencies were concluded.
Parties including the National Conference, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Conference and CPI(M), formed the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration and are fighting the maiden DDC elections together. National parties like BJP and Congress are also in the fray.
