Parliamentary panel Chairman refutes Rahul Gandhi’s claim in meeting with LS speaker
The Chairman of the Parliamentary panel on defense, Jual Oram met Lok Sabha speaker, OM Birla, and apprised him of the allegations leveled by Rahul Gandhi that opposition leaders were not allowed to voice their opinion in the committee’s meetings.
He refuted these claims and apprised the situation which led Rahul Gandhi to walk out of the meeting.
He said that Rahul Gandhi had arrived late at the meeting and had started objecting to the agenda of the meeting that was being discussed.
“Many members asked the Chairman of the panel to organise a presentation to understand the hierarchy in the army. It is embarrassing if a senior officer is called by the wrong designation. Everyone in the committee agreed to it and that is what was discussed in the meeting when Rahul Gandhi came and started asking about details about action on the LAC,” sources told ANI
The Chief of Defense Staff(CDS) Bipin Rawat was also present at the meeting when Rahul Gandhi started to question the agenda of the meeting and wanted to know the current situation on the Line of Actual Control(LAC).
The source questioned Gandhi’s stance as the Wayanad MP did not go to the LAC when several members of the committee went.
The Congress leader had walked out of the meeting alleging that he was not allowed to speak.
