Last solar eclipse of 2020 on December 14: Watch it from home

New Delhi: The last solar eclipse of the year 2020 will happen on December 14. The celestial event which would reportedly start at 7:03 pm (IST) will not be visible in India but you can always go online and watch its live streaming.

The solar eclipse happens when Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. The total solar eclipse happens when the New Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun and casts the darkest part of its shadow on Earth.

The last solar eclipse in India which was an annual solar eclipse occurred on June 21.

According to, a partial eclipse will begin at 19:03 IST on December 14 and the full eclipse will start at 20:02 IST.

Cities such as Temuco and Villarrica in Chile will be able to see at least a part of the total eclipse.

As per the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), a total solar eclipse is only visible from a small area on Earth. The people who see the total eclipse are in the center of the moon’s shadow when it hits Earth. The sky becomes very dark as if it were night. For a total eclipse to take place, the sun, moon and Earth must be in a direct line.
