Kolkata Police rules out ‘Homicide’ in Arya Banerjee’s death case
In the death case of actress Arya Banerjee, who was found dead at her residence in South Kolkata on Friday (December 11), the Kolkata police has ruled out the possibility of homicide.
On Sunday (December 13), the Kolkata Police Joint Commissioner (crime) Murlidhar Sharma gave a statement that, ‘’It was not a case of homicide. She was suffering from cirrhosis (a chronic disease of the liver marked by degeneration of cells, inflammation. It is typically a result of alcoholism) and alcohol was found in her stomach at the time of her death’’.
The police had broke open the door of her apartment and found her body after the actress’s maid had informed the neighbours that she was not answering the door or calls. The police is still questioning the maid. Also, a food delivery guy is under suspicion.
The initial investigation reports have ruled out it as a homicidal death. The probe is underway.
Arya, also known as ‘Devdatta’, was the daughter of late sitarist Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. She had made her foray into Bollywood with the film, ‘’Love Sex aur Dhokha’ and had worked in films like ‘The Dirty Picture’.
