For Classes 6–9, the state program Vidhyagama session will also begin from January which will be mandatory for government school students while it will remain optional for private school students who have access to online classes.

The minister added that the state’s Technical Advisory Committee for COVID-19 discussed the matter of reopening of schools was discussed in details. After considering the demands of the parents of the school children it was decided to reopen classes for students. Only a group of 10–15 students will be allowed to attend classes at once while for Vidhyagama sessions a group of 8–10 students will be allowed inside the premises.

The state is following others like Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh who have allowed to reopen schools in a graded manner.

The schools and pre-university colleges in the state have remained closed since March this year after a national lockdown was first put in place.

The state government had released a detailed timetable for the students earlier on Wednesday.
