France reports first case of new coronavirus strain

The first case of the new coronavirus strain was discovered in France, reported French media.
The person had recently returned from the United Kingdom and had tested positive for the new strain in the city of Tours.
The person did not show any signs of symptoms and is currently self-isolating at his home.
The French government has already banned flights and closed its borders with the United Kingdom to stop the spread of the new strain.
French health authorities have already started to contact trace and any person that would seem vulnerable would be isolated.
The new strain of the COVID called VOC-202012/01 was first detected in the United Kingdom which was first detected in October and started spreading rapidly in Mid- December.
The strain is considered to be 70 percent more transmissible than other reported strains of the virus.
This has prompted several countries to ban flights from the UK and start contact tracing people who arrived in the country from the UK in the past month.
There have been concerns regarding how the new strain would affect the efficacy of the vaccine.
Moderna and Pfizer have started to collect and analyse data to determine how their respective vaccines against the new strain.
