FIR against 112 workers, 300 arrested in Wistron factory case

Kolar(Karnataka): The local police on Saturday lodged First Information Reports (FIR) against 112 workers reportedly involved in the vandalism of the factory premises of Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India) Pvt Ltd in Narasapura, Kolar district.

As per our sources, over 300 workers have been arrested so far over vandalising the pieces of furniture among other things in the factory premises. Police are searching for other workers involved in the protest.

Workers of Taiwan-based Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India) Pvt Ltd in Narasapura, Kolar district reportedly vandalised the factory’s premises on Saturday around 7 am while protesting against non-payment of their dues for the past four months.

The violence broke out after a slight altercation of the workers with the factory management.

Karnataka Deputy CM Dr Ashwathnarayan condemned the incident in a series of tweets and said that strict action will be taken under the law against the “errant elements.”

he added further that he will ensure that all the rights of the workers are duly protected and all their dues are cleared.
