Covid Vaccine Should Be Free Says NCP Leader Nawab Malik
Mumbai, Dec 5: Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and National Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik said that COVID vaccine should be provided free of cost to the Indian people. The statement comes a day after Prime Minister Modi held a video conference all-party meeting on COVID-19 vaccination in the country.
Nawab was quoted by ANI saying, “The Prime Minister held an all-party meeting and now they are saying State and Centre will decide the price, how can it be? In Bihar, they have given the assurance that vaccination will be free. We demand vaccine should be given to each Indian free of cost.”
Earlier former Prime Minister, HD Deve Gowda had also urged the Central government to provide free vaccine to the poor.
The Prime Minister in the meeting stated that a vaccine could be expected in a few week’s time. He said, “Teams of central and state governments are working together for the vaccine distribution. India has the expertise and capacity in vaccine distribution and fares better compared to other nations.”
The Prime Minister said that as soon as the experts give the green light the government is ready to provide vaccination in a phased manner with Healthcare professionals, Frontline workers, and senior citizens to be the first beneficiaries.
