Cold wave likely to prevail over Northern India: IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department(IMD) has said that severe cold wave is likely to last for a few days in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and New Delhi.

The IMD bulletin read “Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions at many places very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi; at a few places over West Uttar Pradesh; at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and cold wave conditions at isolated places over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours and decrease thereafter”.

It also said that dense fog could be observed in isolated pockets in Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur.

Parts of J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan could experience ground frost according to IMD.

The minimum temperature in the National capital dropped to 4.4 degrees and the temperature is expected to get better after December 20.
